Tatra National Park Vysoké Tatry
V roku 1949 bol vyhlásený najstarší národný park Tatranský národný park - TANAP. Od roku 1993 patrí TANAP spolu s poľským národným parkom k Biosferickej rezervácii UNESCO. Na území TANAP - u sú chránené najmä horské a vysokohorské rastliny a medzi chránené živočíchy na tomto území patrí orol tatranský, medveď hnedý a kamzík tatranský - ktorý je symbolom Tatier. Gerlachovský štít s výškou 2655 m je najvyšším vrchom na území Slovenska. Symbolom Slovenska je Kriváň, ktorý sa tu taktiež nachádza. Park je zaujímavý výskytom vyše 100 plies a niekoľkých vodopádov. Belianska jaskyňa je jediná prístupná jaskyňa pre verejnosť na tomto území. V období od 1.11. do 15.6. sú z bezpečnostných dôvodov uzavreté turistické chodníky vo vysokohorskom prostredí TANAP - u . Mimo turistických a náučných chodníkov sa môžu turisti pohybovať len v sprievode horských vodcov. V Tatranskej Lomnici sa nachádza Múzeum TANAP - u. Read on
