V chránenej oblasti Poľany je situovaná lokalita Kaľamárka, v ktorej sa nachádza významné archeologické nálezisko - hradisko, ktoré bolo postupne osídlené pravekými kultúrami doby bronzovej, Keltmi, Germánmi a Slovanmi. Sú tu prekrásne skalnaté útvary - steny, veže, komín, vďaka čomu je táto oblasť lákavou pre milovníkov archeológie, turistov a priaznivcov skalného lezenia. Cez túto lokalitu vedie aj náučný chodník, ktorý približuje históriu, archeológiu a prírodu. Východiskovým bodom je väčšinou Detva.
