Dlhej kotline, ktorá je súčasťou Veľkej Studenej doliny, v ktorej sa nachádza až 27 plies. Z Dlhého plesa vyteká Dlhý potok do Vareškového plesa, ktoré sa nachádza pod Dlhým plesom. K obom plesám sa dostanete cez značené turistické chodníky, ktorých východiskom je Starý Smokovec alebo Hrebienok.
