Skupinky habánov (novokrstencov) prichádzali na územie Slovenska v polovici 16. storočia z Moravy, Rakúska, Nemecka alebo Švajčiarska. Dôvodom prečo putovali novokrstenci stále ďalej na východ bol náboženský útlak v západoeurópskych a stredoeurópskych krajinách. Na mieste, kde sa habáni usadili bol tzv. bratský dvor. Na tomto mieste bolo všetko spoločné a prísne sa tu dodržiavali náboženské pravidlá. Na Slovenskú vznikol bratský dvor v roku 1546 v obci Sobotište. Časom sa z neho stal jeden z najvýznamnejších v krajine a sídlil tu aj habánsky biskup. Dvor sa tu zachoval čiastočne aj dodnes. V lokalite, ktorá je vyhlásená za pamiatkovú zónu môžete vidieť prastaré ľudové domy, habánsku zvonicu, radnicu, školu, džbánkarskú dielňu, stodolu, kľučiareň a mlyn.
